Do you go to school in the right place?<\/h2>\n<p>You have to attend school &#8211; or be home schooled &#8211; in North Eastern Alberta.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Are you in the right grade?<\/h2>\n<p>The Lakeland Regional Science Fair has the following age categories &#8211;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Elementary<\/strong>: Grade 4-6<\/li>\n<li><strong>Junior<\/strong>: Grade 7-8;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Intermediate<\/strong>: Grade 9-10;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Senior<\/strong>: Grade 11-12<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Only grades 7 &#8211; 12 qualify to compete for the Canada-Wide Science Fair.<\/p>\n<h2>3. How many of your friends will you work with?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>If you&#8217;re in grade 4 &#8211; 6, or do not wish to compete for the Canada-Wide Science Fair, your project can have up to 4 participants.<\/li>\n<li>If you plan to compete for the Canada-Wide Science Fair, your project can have up to 2 participants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>4. Is your project idea suitable for a science fair?<\/h2>\n<p>Youth Science Canada, which organizes the Canada-Wide Science Fair, recognizes two types of projects:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Discovery<\/strong>: Answering scientific questions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Innovation<\/strong>: Solving problems or improving existing solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you&#8217;re in grades 4-6, or, you don&#8217;t want to compete for the Canada-Wide Science Fair, you could also do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Research: <\/strong>Tell us all about your favourite subject, don&#8217;t worry about questions or creating something new.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>See: <\/em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/region.youthscience.ca\/lakeland\/resources\/project-types\/\">Project Types<\/a><\/strong> for help deciding what kind of project you have.<\/p>\n<h2>5. What will you show us on the day of the fair?<\/h2>\n<p>On the day of the science fair you will need to have <em>something<\/em> that helps you to tell everyone about what you learned, but what that is exactly is up to you!<\/p>\n<p>At the Canada-Wide Science Fair there are strict requirements for project displays. However, at the regional science fair we&#8217;re much more relaxed (even if you&#8217;re competing to go to the CWSF).<\/p>\n<h2>6. There are some other rules<\/h2>\n<p>Check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/region.youthscience.ca\/lakeland\/registration\/rules-of-the-fair\/\">Rules of the Fair<\/a> which covers important matters like ethics, working with humans or animals, and projects that might involve danger.<\/p>\n<h2>In summary&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>To be eligible and participate in the science fair, you&#8217;ll need to&#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Be in grades 4 &#8211; 12.<\/li>\n<li>Go to school in North Eastern Alberta<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your project is suitable for a science fair<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your project group isn&#8217;t too large<\/li>\n<li>Have a display for the day of the fair<\/li>\n<li>Take a look at the <a href=\"https:\/\/region.youthscience.ca\/lakeland\/registration\/rules-of-the-fair\/\">Rules of the Fair<\/a> for things like any permission forms or approvals you&#8217;ll require.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>All good?
