The opportunity to advance onto the Canada Wide Science Fair is open to students in grades 7 to 12.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">We have been transitioning our Science Fair into a STEM Fest which incorporates technology demonstrations, hands-on activities, <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">local career fair booths<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">, and an art of science projects competition.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">We operate under the affiliation of the Saskatchewan Association of Science Fairs Incorporated (SASFI), which is a registered charitable organization and also under Youth Science Canada.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">There have been over 100 alumni since we were established in 1992.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">The fair is open to all students in the southeast Saskatchewan corner from grades 5 to 12.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">We have anywhere between 25 to 80 projects per fair.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">There are always a very wide range of topics that the students investigate, which is a great experience for students as it provides the opportunity for them to pick their own projects, to carry out hands-on experiments or innovations, to find out new discoveries and <\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">technologies.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">We have the ability to send up to four students from our region, however, we have only been able to send two students in recent years, due to financial constraints.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Our regional fair is fueled by a board of volunteers, including several teachers and community members.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">We rely on volunteer judges from the community to run our fairs.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">We are very much reliant on and appreciative of any contributions we receive.<\/span><span class=\"a_GcMg font-feature-liga-off font-feature-clig-off font-feature-calt-off text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> We have a sponsorship wall at our fairs, a program where sponsors, judges, and mentors are listed, and we have social media where we ensure that all types of contributions are listed.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Our Organizing Committee\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Chair &#8211; Jessica Morland, Senior Science Teacher, Carnduff Education Complex<\/li>\r\n<li>Vice-Chair &#8211; Pamela Dmytriw, Senior Science Teacher, Oxhow Prairie Horizons School<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Treasurer &#8211; Pamela Dmytriw<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Ethics &#8211; Cassidy Metherell, Gladmar Regional School<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Secretary &#8211; Jessica Morland<\/li>\r\n<li>Chief Judge &#8211; Jessica Morland<\/li>\r\n<li>Media and Technology &#8211; Cassidy Metherell and Jessica Morland<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Other Committee Members &#8211; we are accepting applications for memberships on our board.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We provide the pathway from a Classroom Project to the School Fair to the Regional Science Fair to the Canada Wide Science fair and\/or beyond!
