Here are the latest BRSF and Youth Science Canada updates that may be of interest to you. There are quite a few, so let’s dive in:

In person BRSF and Canada Wide Science Fair 2025 Project Classification
The National Judging Policy Committee has finalized the project classification for the 2025 Canada-Wide Science Fair:

  • 2 project types – Discovery (Create new fundamental knowledge based on your curiosity by asking a question and using the techniques of scientific inquiry to develop an answer)  and Innovation (Combine scientific principles with your creativity to develop a new material, structure, device, or system to solve a problem or improve an existing solution)
  • 5 grade categories – Science Buddies ( K-3), Elementary ( grade 4/6) , Junior(grade 7/8), Intermediate (grade 9/10), Senior (grade 11,12)
  • 9 Challenges – Agriculture, Fisheries & FoodCuriosity & IngenuityDigital TechnologyDisease & IllnessEnergyEnvironment & Climate ChangeHealth & WellnessNatural Resources;Aerospace

o    Note: projects unrelated to one of the other challenges should select Curiosity & Ingenuity.

Please see Project Judging Rubric for the Bison Regional Science Fair and it is consistent with Canada-Wide Science Fair.

ETHICS PROCEDURE

Does your project involve humans or animals? If so… Please read on… You will need ethics approval from both the BRSF and possibly Youth Science Canada to take part in our science fair. Please check the link for more info about Ethics Procedure
