Before Registering for the Okanagan Shuswap Regional STEM Fair, please check the following Eligibility Criteria:
- You have a working title and working towards completing the project by Regional Fair date.
- Know if you are working on your own, or with a partner for a single project (maximum of 2 people per project is allowed).
- Be registered with a Public, FNSA, Independent or Home School bound within the geographical district boundaries for School districts 19, 22, 23, 53, 67, or 83. These include communities from Revelstoke, through the Shuswap, and down the Okanagan Valley to Osoyoos.
- Be of age of a student between Grade 3-12 as registered with a school in British Columbia.
- The project must adhere to rules governing ethical research and safety practices. These conform to the policies set out by Youth Science Canada (Canada Wide Science Fair), which can be found here SAFETY and ETHICS
- Each project must be your own project; fraudulent projects will be disqualified. The Okanagan Shuswap Regional STEM fair takes Scientific Fraud and misconduct seriously, this includes plagiarism, forged documents, use of other’s work as their own, or using fake or fabricated data in the project.
- As this is a regional STEM fair, total registration may be capped per school based upon facility capacity and funding. Each school may be limited in the number of individual projects each year. This will be communicated to schools by the end of January, as the number of pre-registration forms will be sent in by then. If registration capacity is reached, and a school has more project registrations than are permitted, the Okanagan Shuswap Regional STEM Fair will determine which projects are permitted to participate in consultation with the school.
- Each project registration must have teacher support/sponsor to ensure the quality of the project, safety, and ethics in order to participate. For home-school projects, please contact the Okanagan Shuswap Regional STEM Fair ([email protected]) to complete this process.
