The Cariboo-Mainline Regional Science Fair is open to school finalists from the following school districts (as well as any private schools within these district’s boundaries):

  • Kamloops-Thompson School District #73
  • Cariboo-Chilcotin School District #27
  • Nicola-Similkameen School District #58
  • Gold Trail School District #74
  • Central Coast School District #49

  • The deadline to register students is March 7th.
  • Advanced judging is March 31st. Families will be notified in advance of scheduled timeslot for judging; families will have the chance to pick preferred times in a survey distributed when all registration is complete.
  • The 2025 Cariboo Mainline Regional Science Fair will be April 1st at the TRU gymnasium. It is up to the school and supervising teacher to arrange for field trip forms and transportation. 
  • The top achieving projects (highest finishing 10 %) of from grade 5-12 students may participate.
  • There are nearly $10,000 in cash prizes, awards, scholarships and opportunities available to our region; to view them visit here https://www.sciencefairs.ca/participate/bc-yukon-science-fairs/#awards.  Awards are determined annually.
  • Students may present their projects digitally through https://projectboard.world/ysc/  and / or on three-fold boards (paper-based).  If you wish to be eligible for Canada-Wide Science Fair, you will need both components.

Monday March 31 Judging TRU Gym 4:30 – 8:30
  • Family contacts will be emailed judging time slots in the upcoming days 
  • You will be able to adjust times as needed but we ask for your flexibility if possible as options are limited
  • Thank you for your patience as logistics are nailed down before Spring Break
Tuesday April 1 TRU Gym Shape of the Day 
  • 8:30 student drop off (schools / parents are responsible for transportation)
  • 8:30 – 9:00 students vote on student choice award
  • 9:00 welcome address 
  • Events, activities and demonstrations in designated groups (chaperoned) 
  • 11:30 – 12:15 **Pizza Provided** – please bring your own water bottle 
  • Public viewing 1:15 – 2:00
  • Awards ceremony 2:00 – 2:30
